Description

The Old Rhine Bridge between Vaduz and Sevelen is a true landmark and the last remaining wooden bridge over the Rhine. From Vaduz’s old town, you can easily reach it on foot in about 20 minutes.

Completed as early as 1901, the 135-meter-long covered bridge impresses with its historic charm. Thirty years earlier, a wooden bridge had stood on the same site, which had to be raised twice due to the Rhine river regulation project. After the dam breach in Schaan in 1927, the new bridge was raised once again to withstand the rising water levels.

The Old Rhine Bridge was extensively renovated in 2009 and 2010 and has shone in new splendor ever since. Today it is open exclusively to non-motorized traffic and is particularly popular with cyclists. A walk or bike ride across the bridge offers wonderful views of the Rhine and the surrounding countryside.
