To the Gafadura cabin from Planken (or Schaanwald)

The Gafadura cabin (1428 m above sea level) of the Liechtenstein Alpine Association is a popular destination for a walk after work or a convenient half-day hike. For most of the time, the ascent leads through shady woods. The cabin is also the starting point for the long-distance hike ,Via Alpina', or the ascent to the Three Sisters.

There are many ways to the Gafadura cabin: Conveniently via the roadway (motorized vehicles prohibited) (Alternative A) or a little steeper from Planken, on a marked mountain trail. From the valley, several longer mountain trails lead to the popular alpine cabin: in 3 hours from Nendeln; or in 3 to 4 hours on a long ascent from Schaanwald, via the Alpenzinken and the Paula cabin (no services). In our description, we use this trail to descend.

Tip: The reward for the short ascent to the Saroja saddle is the stunning view over the Walgau valley and the Walserkamm (Austria). Especially wonderful are the long evenings on the cabin terraces and the Alpine sunsets.
