Through Valüna valley

Easy but extensive round trip through the Samina valley, crossing over the Rätikon hillside with its ample display of alpine flowers. Especially nature lovers will enjoy the mountains surrounding the valley and the Maiensäss (summertime pastureland with cabins) in Steg.

From the South of the Gängle pond (reservoir), there is a moderately ascending roadway leading to the Sücka. Then half way up, our track crosses the right side of the Samina valley, consistently offering great views. At the Fula Felsa, we can experience the erosion of the rocks. Also, the exuberant splendour of the alpine flora fully evolves up here. Passing by beautiful pastureland depressions and sparse pinewoods, we are heading down to the Valüna Alp (services), finally reaching the four-grouped cabins in Steg.

Tip: The mountain ponds of Gapfahl-Obersäss are very pretty in spring - with the snowdrifts on the mountains, and the flowers down in the valley.

Family tip: Have a BBQ and play by the Samina brook. Or take a cool bath in the Gängle lake or brook.
