Path of Philosophers Triesenberg

A hiking tour on natural trails in cultural Walser landscape.

This hike starts highly above the village Triesenberg at the hamlet Gnalp 1201 m above sea level. The trail leads north on the Path of Philosophers to the little Walser hamlet Masescha. It is worth to stop in the restaurant Masescha to enjoy its famous apple pie on the sunny terrace.

After this refreshment the hike continues to the disperse settlement Vorder-Profatscheng 1210 m above sea level and suddenly slightly downwards to Hinter-Profatscheng 1110 m above sea level. The view of the Rhine valley, the nicely tanned Walser houses and the fondly cultivated landscape make this hike to a special experience. From Hinter-Profatscheng a well-signposted mountain hiking trail climbs 350 m altitude difference through a sparse alpine forest up to Gaflei 1483 m above sea level. Every meter of altitude is worth it, as the view up at Gaflei is even more fascinating. It is hardly surprising that tourism in Liechtenstein was founded right here with the first construction of a hotel in 1908. From Gaflei the hike continues comfortably via Silum 1469 m above sea level, back to the starting point Gnalp 1201 m above sea level and finally back to Rizlina.
