Who needs Zurich or Vienna when you have top-class operetta performances right on your doorstep? Since opening in 1999, the Vaduz Operetta has become a hub for lovers of opera and classical music.
As early as 1940 Vaduz hosted recitals and operettas performed by the local men's choir, whose members went on to found the Vaduz Operetta in 1962. Today the stages in Vaduz and Balzers alternate, with each location putting on an operetta every second year.
In 1997 the Vaduz Opera Society was created and has since thrilled audiences with pieces including Lortzing's 'The Armourer', Flotow's 'Martha' and Lortzing's 'Tsar and Carpener'. In autumn 2005 the society took audiences on a journey to Italy with a performance of Gaetano Donizetti's 'The Elixir of Love'. All operettas are performed by an excellent ensemble and first-class soloists.
