Obstacle-free route: Vaduz-Balzers

With Vaduz, the Principality of Liechtenstein - boasts a prestigious capital city. This is the start of an outstanding route that stretches as far as Balzers.

Vaduz blends past, present and a stunning landscape in unique fashion. You've hardly passed through the gates of this tiny capital city before you can already admire the first attraction - the medieval Vaduz Castle. This landmark of the Principality of Liechtenstein sits in suitably impressive and majestic style high above the city. 

Just a stone's throw away and you're already in a lush green valley. Here you stroll past lavish, colourful meadows and spaciously laid-out fields, drinking in the impressive mountain world and fantastic long-distance views. The route continues through Triesen to Balzers and delivers pure relaxation in pristine countryside. 

The route is ideal to escape from everyday life in the true sense of the word. You use easy paths, take a break wherever you feel like it and enjoy the captivating ambiance in the heart of an unforgettable picture-postcard idyll. And if you wish, at the end of the tour you can always round off your day with a refreshing drink in Balzers.

From Balzers the Sargans and Buchs SG support railway stations are reached with low-floor buses (both Bus Route 12).

    From the support railway stations in Sargans and Buchs SG, you reach Vaduz Post bus stop by low-floor bus (both Bus Route12).

    Three wheelchair-suitable parking spaces are found in the indoor car park in Vaduz near the Post bus stop. 

    Public wheelchair-accessible WC Vaduz Städtle 
    Another wheelchair-accessible public WC is found at the Städtle bus stop on the main road about 100m to the north of the Post bus stop in Vaduz. WC info: door width 79 cm; movement area (DxB): 85x240 cm; seat height 42 cm; hand grips, left fixed, right movable; access right; mirror height 90 cm; washbasin underside clearance: 65 cm.

    A wheelchair accessible public WC is found directly on the route at the western end of the indoor car park at the Vaduz Post bus stop. WC info: door width 88 cm; movement area (DxB) 210x120 cm; seat height 46 cm; hand grips, left fixed, right movable; access right; mirror height 98 cm; washbasin underside clearance 70 cm.  

    km 0 - km 6.4 
    The route has no notable ascents or descents from Vaduz to the exit at Triesen. At the starting point, the post office bus stop, you go straight through the indoor car park. The first 800 m here are on level paving stones while the rest of the way is completely surfaced. At km 1.3 is a cycle chicane with a manoeuvring area of 160x120cm (DxB).

    Public wheelchair-accessible WC at Triesen Post 
    The wheelchair-accessible WC at the post office in Triesen, at km 4.3 is reached by going about 100m to the roundabout in the direction of the centre and from there following the road towards Vaduz for about 100 m. The door is on the north side of the building, not marked as such and the door is rather difficult to open. WC info: door width 88cm; movement area (DxB) 125x120cm; seat height 53 cm; hand grips, left none, right fixed; access left; mirror height 130cm; washbasin underside clearance: 70cm.

    km 6.4 - km 8.8 
    This section of the route is for the most part level and surfaced. 1.2km on gravelled path from outside Neugrütt to Balzers. At km 6.4; underpass with a 20m-long descent with an 8% gradient at the beginning and a 30 m-long ascent with a 7% gradient at the end. At km 6.9: a 40 m descent with a 7% gradient and three drainage channels (6 cm wide) across your path.
