Despite its small area, the principality of Liechtenstein has an extraordinary species-rich wildlife. We're presenting eight animal encounters you shouldn't miss.
Alpine ibex

Meet the Capra ibex

On the rocks the Capra ibex fears no predator. Without any effort he climbs from one rock to another. That's more than astonishing considering the ibex weighs up to 100 kilograms. In the Liechtenstein mountain area your chances are grat to spot an ibex. We especially recommend the hiked from the Pfälzer hut to the Naafkopf and the Falknis tour.

Marmots

A very special chorus of whistles

To protect themselves from predators in an area without trees or bushes, marmots are dependent on their burrows. When in danger, they hide themselves quickly. Their whistle in fact is a scream. If predators like the golden eagle are appearing, the smart marmots are alerting each other this way. The cute rodents are often seen in Malbun.
